How does a tattoo shop survive being in the middle of nowhere on a strip of highway surrounded by trees without huge flashing lights and massive amounts of marketing signage? Do some damn good tattoos.
In 1996 Shotsies West? Tattoo opened. Jen Carmean and John Bergin were sent up to a strip mall in the woods between a closing flower shop and an abandoned store front. They got to work building a cliental and had faith in their skills that, in time, would most certainly pay off. In 2004 Jen Carmean bought the shop and renamed it Monarch Tattoo. Some signs were changed and so was the logo. Other than that, it was business as usual. They believed to never overstate your abilities, let your abilities make a statement about you.
In a business that is becoming inundated with reality TV, flashy clothing, and over-priced marketing ploys, Monarch Tattoo understands that it is the quality and clients that come first and everything else is window dressing.
With the addition of 15 year tattoo veteran, long time shop friend and Star Wars geek, Matt Graham and newly acquired custom tattooer and video game specialist Dave Spataro, the shop has a well rounded and personable staff that can rap about anything from the art movement to pop culture and movie references.
The staff is on hand to sit for consultations and customize your tattoo to reflect your own perfect idea. Although Monarch Tattoo is a custom shop, but will accept walk ins, piercings or overall general questions are always welcomed.
We refuse to sing our own praises.
